Ligament Pain in Pregnancy

by | Oct 27, 2022 | Uncategorized

Liagament pain is generally referred pain from the ligaments that support your growing bump.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Broad Ligaments⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you feel low sharp pain in the lower abdomen it could be the broad ligaments stretching. Often felt in the First Trimester.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This can flare up again later on in Thrid Trimester. Pain can be felt in the sides, back and around the glutes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Round Ligaments ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pain is often lower, top of uterus, groin, vulvar and upper thigh fascia.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often pain presents one sided depending on foetal position and is common in Second trimester.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Uterosacral Ligaments ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often experienced in third trimester, general aching around the lower back and sacrum.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have any pains during pregnancy that you are worried about please contact your health provider and or midwife.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pregnancy massage with a trained practitioner can really help to tackle pain during pregnancy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The glutes are easily accessed with side lying massage and can help alleviate a lot of the referred pain.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hope this helps :)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
